Teun is the founder and CEO of Karman+, an asteroid mining company working to fuel and supply the space economy. At Karman+ Teun and his team are well on their way to launch what Teun calls the Regolith Age - an era where we increasingly build and power our orbital and off-planet economy with resources extracted from asteroids. And perhaps eventually reverse the system, bringing back down to Earth products manufactured in orbit with resources from asteroids.

A thought provoking perspective shared with me today I’d like to share: Pre the internet high costs of content anchored the incumbent media model, post internet user generated content drove the cost of content to zero and changed the media business model fundamentally. Pre AI the cost of software code creation was high, driving the software industry’s business and operating model. Post AI the cost of software code creation is driven to zero, so by inference the software industry business model changes fundamentally. If you can think it and express it, it will be coded for you on demand.

Dr. Nina Tandon and her colleagues are regenerating human bone using stem cells. The technology points toward a future of tissue regeneration where we regrow parts of our own bodies that need repair or replacement.

Tasmanian Daniel Faber is the founder & CEO of OrbitFab, focused on solving a very important problem - how to refuel satellites and other assets in space. Up to now everything put into orbit ultimately becomes space junk. A propellant supply chain in space is a critical enabler to a dynamic space economy.

Daniel is an engineer and entrepreneur with over 25 years in space technology. His goal is to create permanent jobs in space. OrbitFab has tens of millions in contracts to deliver propellant in Earth orbit, from commercial and government customers. Daniel is the former CEO of Deep Space Industries and has worked as an engineer on technology ranging from satellites, rockets and nuclear fusion reactors to coal power stations and steel mills.

Emil and I met in October during a discussion on longevity in Berlin. In this discussion we explore his work on human cryopreservation and the role the technology might play in helping people time travel to a future where critical ailments might have remedy. Futuristic stuff indeed, but this is actually happening. Emil and his colleagues already have a number of people in cryopreservation, and the European Biostasis Foundation in Switzerland he directs is very serious about its mission.

Mark Kotter is at the forefront of transitioning biology to engineering. He is a doctor, scientist and serial entrepreneur. Mark’s work is addressing many of the most important human needs, including cancer and the consequences of poor health due to ageing.

His company Bit.bio made an important announcement earlier this year with the launch of a powerful new toolset for programming STEM cells. It’s hard to overstate the implications of this technology, and the pathways it suggests for regeneration and repairing organs in the human body, enhancement with new cells, and growing or printing new organs.
